Nicole Crochet Shawl Pattern
Nicole is a crescent shaped shawl and is worked from the top down. It features a variety of lace patterns, with a combination of solid areas and openwork sections, finishing with a decorative hem edging with optional beading. There are two versions, for standard and fine laceweight yarns, with slightly different edgings. Designed to be quite challenging and interesting to work, this design is recommended for those with a reasonable level of experience and is classified for intermediate to experienced crocheters.
Finished size is 60-63 cm (24-25 inches) centre back depth, 130-134 cm (51-53 inches) wingspan tip to tip. The standard laceweight version (main picture) takes 100g/800m (recommended yarn 50:50 Merino Silk Lace - original used Precious Metals) and 420 size 6 beads and the fine lace version takes 100g/1,200m (recommended yarn Alpaca Silk Cashmere Fine Lace or Suri Alpaca Merino Silk Fine Lace - original used Orchid Deep) and 945 size 8 beads within 3-bead picots. You can omit the beads altogether, or use single bead picots if preferred.
